DEI Statement

For thirty years (30), The Board of Directors of AIDS Project Snohomish County has been on a journey to create a world where everyone has equal access to HIV/AIDS Services. This starts with how we lead, with a sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our strength comes from our diversity, and we celebrate the visible and invisible qualities that make each person unique, including race, gender, age, sexuality, ability, religion, national origin, gender identity, academic achievement, socioeconomic group, and other identities.

We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity. We strive to prevent discrimination, while recognizing that Health Care is a basic human right, and must be provided to all people, throughout the world, in the form of health education, disease prevention, and care services, including medications.

Our Story

AIDS Project Snohomish County is a grassroots organization with no paid staff. Board members and volunteers donate their time to initiatives which support HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and prevention.

AIDS Project Snohomish County dates back to 1993 when we held our 1st annual AIDS Walk to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and funds. We continued for nearly 10 years until volunteers dwindled and Board members passed away or moved on. Then in 2004, we began to develop new fundraising events including the Dine In/Art Auction.

Today, funding comes from designated donations through United Way, PUD and Snohomish County employee annual drives, Microsoft employee donations, and private funding. More recently our infamous and fun biannual SnoHomo Bingo events have provided our most significant source of funds.

The APSC Board meets quarterly to plan community awareness activities, coordinate fundraising initiatives, and award financial grants. The funds are distributed to organizations in Snohomish County that provide prevention programs, supportive services and care for those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
